Smokie, the iconic British rock band is coming back to Tel Aviv to rock it out in the city this fall.
Smokie initially rose to fame in the 1970's and is most know for its chart topping hits 'Living Next Door to Alice', 'Lay Back in the Arms of Someone', and "If You Think You Know How to Love Me.'
The band has had 13 top twenty hits during the 1970s and has sold more than 30 million albums.
Initially formed in Yorkshire, England, in 1966, Smokie hit the British pop charts a few times amid the late '70s with a fresh pop style. The quartet recorded many singles amid the late '60s and mid '70s, and in 1975 hit number three in the U.K. with "If You Think You Know How to Love Me."
After another Top Ten hit, "Don't Play Your Rock’n’ Roll to Me,” the band made it big with three Top 20 hits, including "Living Next Door to Alice." Smokie hit number five both in 1977 ("It's Your Life") and 1978 ("Oh Carol(".
The band has performed in Tel Aviv several times and are returning shortly after their last visit to the non stop city with an extremely successful run two years ago. The Tel Aviv concert will be a part of the band’s new tour which includes England and many countries around Europe and which also includes musicians Martin Bullard, Mick McConnell, Mike Craft, Steve Pinnell and Terry Uttley.
Smokie’s songs have gained iconic status over the years and have been covered multiple times due to their catchy style. The band enjoys a strong fan base in the country and regularly fills every seat in the house in each of their performances. The band will be playing its greatest hits to the joy of their fans which will flock to see the rock legends in action in Tel Aviv.
