The Kooks – one of the ultimate British rock/pop bands of the century are coming this January to rock Tel Aviv as a part of "The Best of The Kooks" tour that marks a decade to their existence.
The band was formed in Brighton, UK, in 2004 by lead singer Luke Pritchard and consists of Hugh Harris the lead guitarist, drummer Alexis Nunez and bassist Peter Denton. The band released its debut album, "Inside In/Inside Out" in 2006, which included hits such as "Ooh La" and "She Moves in Her Own Way" and achieved quadruple platinum status in the UK within a year and also abroad in the form of a platinum certification in Australia and two times platinum in Ireland.
The group released its second album "Konk" in 2008 which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and recorded first week sales of 65000, achieving gold status in both the UK and Ireland, which continued to establish their reputation as one of the world's most beloved brit-pop and post-punk bands. In 2011 their third album "Junk of the Heart" came out, followed by "Listen" in 2014 which debuted at No. 16 on the UK Albums Chart. Besides the fact that they quickly signed with "Virgin Records" only 3 months after forming, they also won several awards, such as MTV's best band of 2006 award, Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 and even a nomination for the famous Brits award.
The band's music is primarily influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival of the new millennium. The Kooks have experimented in genres such as pop, reggae, ska, Britpop, rock, funk and hip-hop, and released songs that were describes as "catchy as hell".
